CETIC is organizing a RESERVOIR training session in Paris on March 22, 2011.
The objective is to learn how to build and use your own cloud infrastructure with OpenNebula in the RESERVOIR Framework.
To pave the way to adoption of cloud technology by businesses, the RESERVOIR project has integrated a set of virtualization and cloud management tools.
The training will focus on OpenNebula, a core component of the RESERVOIR project.

Building on the highly successful workshops over the last two years, 
Cloudscape III – Taking European Cloud Infrastructure Forward, takes place 15-16 March 2011 in Brussels to explore how cloud computing developments and interoperability, offering multiple perspectives spanning Clouds for commerce, legal issues, the data challenge and government services.
This event will present the latest results in Cloud Computing, highlighting its potential and describing the main findings of the pioneering European project RESERVOIR.
Industrial and government applications in the Cloud from SAP, Telefónica and THALES will be detailed.
IBM will cover the RESERVOIR project’s goals and achievements as well as define the Cloud Computing concept and its applications.
Participants will be shown a demonstration of the RESERVOIR Framework, with a particular attention given to the OpenNebula open source component.

The RESERVOIR project and its results are fully referenced and highlighted in the 
European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) report on ‘Governmental Cloud in the EU’.
Jose Luis Vazquez-Poletti, PhD and Assistant Professorin Computer Architecture at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain provides an update on some specific movements in European cloud computing research projects that will follow in 2011, giving a first-person view of where the European Union is putting its efforts in matters of cloud computing. Ignacio Llorente, Universidad Complutense de Madrid & RESERVOIR was keynote speaker at OGF30 which was held in Brussels, Belgium in October. The presentation titled Leading Innovation in Cloud Computing Management focuses on the benefits of Cloud Computing, various perspectives of Cloud and highlights a set of OpenNebula case studies which includes RESERVOIR.
RESERVOIR also held a training session on how to use and build Cloud infrastructure using the RESERVOIR Framework. The session presented the global architecture deployed in the RESERVOIR framework and its possible uses.

RESERVOIR will be participating at ICT 2010 with both an Information Stand and Networking Session. The information stand called “Deploying Complex Multi-tier Applications on a Federated Cloud Infrastructure” will be placed in the ICT Connects zone of the ICT2010 conference.
The networking session “Research/Industry Collaboration on Open Source Cloud Middleware” is in collaboration with SLA@SOI and takes place on September 28, from 11:00 to 12:30. The session aims to identify better ways to collaborate for developing European open source technology for building clouds.You can download the agenda from HERE.
The paper entitled “Engineering Autonomic Controllers For Virtualized Web Applications” by USI’s Giovanni Toffetti, Alessio Gambi, Mauro Pezzè, and Cesare Pautasso received the best paper award at the 10th International Conference of Web Engineering, held in Vienna the week of July 5th.
The paper describes the internals of the implicit SLA protection controller of the RESERVOIR architecture, and the way Kriging models are used to engineer an autonomic controller that keeps improving its prediction at run-time.
As the RESERVOIR project moves into its third and final year, the latest edition of the RESERVOIR newsletter looks at some of the achievements that have taken place so far. Focus is also placed on the the importance of best practices and standards and how alliances between cloud computing interoperability and security standards groups have been formed. Finally we look at how cloud can both improve security and resilience and how it also raises specific challenges.
This RESERVOIR 10-min video shows how complex multi-tier applications can be securely deployed on a federated Cloud infrastructure. It demonstrates how virtualization and business service management techniques can be used to transparently provision and manage resources and services on an on-demand basis at competitive costs with high quality of service.
An average of 30 attendees took part in the three RESERVOIR tutorials offered at OGF28 covering topics such as Deployment of Private and Hybrid Clouds Using OpenNebula/RESERVOIR, Using the OGF Open Cloud Computing Interface on OpenNebula/RESERVOIR and Open Cloud Computing Interface Implementations. RESERVOIR is again playing another major role in a key distributed computing event, this time at OGF28 being held from March 15-19 at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany. RESERVOIR will run 3 90-min tutorial sessions on Wednesday 17 March covering:

RESERVOIR is playing a key part of the cloudscape Workshop with project partners presenting a practical use case on the SAP Use Case with a talk from Mike Lindner, SAP Research Belfast, major RESERVOIR achievements with a talk by Juan Caceres, Middleware Technologies Specialist at Telefonica, and Philippe Masonnet, Scientific coordinator at CETIC, shedding light on cloud security based on the outcomes of a survey and report spearheaded by the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA).

RESERVOIR is participating at EGEE’09 which is taking place in Barcelona this week. As well as an exhibition stand at the event, a session dedicated to RESERVOIR and EGEE collaboration has outlined how the two projects are working together to explore how the institutes providing computing resources to EGEE could benefit from adopting private and hybrid cloud models to provide resources.
RESERVOIR will be presented at the World Innovation Summit to be held in Tel Aviv on Sept. 14, 2009. This event looks into breakthroughs and innovative technologies.

An outline of the RESERVOIR projects was presented at Future of Service Clouds / Virtualised Service Platform Session at ICT 2008 Lyon 25-27 Nov 2008RESERVOIR gave presentation on 23 Sept 2008 in Brussels for the Virtualized Service Platform session of the Concertation meeting EU.The first issue of the RESERVOIR Architecture document has been released. The document focuses on identifying requirements for a highly dynamic computing cloud and defining a high level architecture for a system that can satisfy those requirements. The goal of this document is to setup the foundation on which the components that make the RESERVOIR compute cloud will be developed. However, this is not intended to be a static document; instead it is a living document that will be refined as the project progresses.RESERVOIR held a session at OGF23 in Barcelona Spain, on Tuesday, June 3 providing an overview and general RESERVOIR architecture, Service Management, Virtual Execution Environments Management and Virtual Infrastructure. The RESERVOIR White Paper was also presented.
