Business Driven Research

panel1

The aim of RESERVOIR has been to develop an open-source technology to enable the deployment and management of complex IT services across different business and administrative domains. Technology breakthroughs have focused on four business-driven use cases bringing tangible benefits for the European business community and administrative domains.

RESERVOIR Partner Use Cases

  • Telecommunications: a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering, whereby a telco provider can host owned or third party services over a RESERVOIR Compute Cloud.
  • eGovernment: application that typically exhibits large spikes in resource capacity, as well as geographical restrictions on the placement of virtual resources.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): the ability to dynamically provision and scale-on a complex three-tiered business application, while working to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Utility Computing: applications being run are characterized by the unpredictability of their performance, frequently changing resources needed driven also by the need for a pay-as-go billing model.

RESERVOIR and SME Synergies

The RESERVOIR feedback group is made up of a number of small to medium sized enterprises who been given early access to RESERVOIR documentation and concepts to help them understand how their business could benefit from the Cloud. In exchange, the SMEs have provided their insights on how RESERVOIR could be better adapted to meet their requirements.
