In Europe, the projects selected through FP7-ICT Call 1 belonging to Challenge 1 “Pervasive and Trusted Network and Service Infrastructures” are also studying problems that are relevant for the Future Internet. Collectively they research issues like security, broadband, mobility, scalability, distributed services, media, dependability; which are all highly relevant for the Future Internet. In order to build on this research and to contribute more effectively to the Future Internet, the Future Internet Assembly aims to have a discussion among projects on their views and work towards a “Future Internet”.

Projects contributing to the Future Internet Assembly have signed a Declaration – a document outlining challenges and objectives of the Assembly. The Declaration will be signed by projects, not by companies/ organisations. The Future Internet Assembly consists of different working groups, each working on different issues related to the Future Internet. Speakers from industry and academia will present their view on why we need a Future Internet and what usage and shape it could have.
