The RESERVOIR project will proudly sponsorize the CloudCamp Madrid event, to be held at Universidad Complutense Madrid the next 12th of November. The aim of the conference is to advance the current state of cloud computing and related technologies and it is registration is free of charge.

RESERVOIR is participating at EGEE '09 which is taking place in Barcelona this week. As well as an exhibition stand at the event, a session dedicated to RESERVOIR and EGEE collaboration has outlined how the two projects are working together to explore how the institutes providing computing resources to EGEE could benefit from adopting private and hybrid cloud models to provide resources.

RESERVOIR will be presented at the World Innovation Summit to be held in Tel Aviv on Sept. 14, 2009.  This event looks into breakthroughs and innovative technologies.

The RESERVOIR project is pleased to announce a joint collaboration with the EGEE project to study the use of a 'private cloud' model for resource provisioning with RESERVOIR's management software, thus maximising the use of the resources provided by EGEE to its user communities. More details here.

This year's XtreemOS summer school is being held at Wadham College, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, on September 7-11, 2009.

The DIGIBIZ 2009 is being launched to serve as the leading international forum for industry and academia involved in electronic business and commerce. The conference focuses on innovative business models (B2B, B2C, Marketplaces), community centric technologies enabling Digital Businesses (Web 2.0) and Business Models for the Future Internet (Web 3.0).

RESERVOIR and IBM are sponsoring a panel discussion on Cloud Computing which will examine the potential benefits of cloud computing to enterprise, as well as looking at potential challenges for adoption by enterprise. Maik Linder, SAP, will represent the RESERVOIR project on the panel, highlighting the key concepts of RESERVOIR such as:

• Federation Elasticity and API standardisation for the management of cloud services
• New business models
• The importance of standardisation

In a joint demonstration IBM  and SAP previewed a technology that enables the live migration of SAP applications across remote IBM POWER6 systems via cloud computing. Developed as part of EU RESERVOIR project.  See here and here.

The RESERVOIR web site has been redesigned.

It was recently published over at SYS-CON Cloud Computing Journal that project Reservoir (and related OpenNebula) is one of the top 100 cloud players on the worldwide ecosystem of cloud computing technology. This is the who’s who list in the cloud computing world from the research projects such as the EU FP 7 project SLA@SOI to respected industry players like Amazon and Google. January 12th, 2009.
